PM’s right eye operated for cataract

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday underwent a successful cataract operation in his right eye and will resume work Monday, his office announced.

The prime minister underwent the surgery at the Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) “for cataract removal in the right eye”, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

Manmohan Singh, 75, was then discharged from the hospital and has reached home, officials said.

He underwent “an intra-ocular lens implantation after a brief surgical procedure”. He was in good health, said a hospital source.
