Warsaw : More Polish companies are seeking to boost cooperation with Indian firms even as their businesses increased manifold after Poland became a member of the European Union (EU) in 2004, EuAsiaNews reports.
Increasingly, Indian companies are making a mark in Poland. Mittal Steel, which produces 80 percent of the country’s steel, has opened the gates for other companies to follow, the report said Sunday.
Indian companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Zen Sar and Thomson group acquired by Videocon have already set up their bases in Poland.
Many new companies are also likely to set up their offices to expand their exports to European countries.
To meet the demands of both Indian and Polish companies, the former president of the Indian Association J.J. Singh has revamped the Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI) with a newly formed board of executive members.
This new body has already enrolled 55 leading companies, while more companies are likely to join it soon.
Singh said: “The main purpose is to protect and represent the interests within the range of economic activity and to promote economic relations between India and Poland.”
“The chamber will act as a responsible body to guide and resolve any problem that may arise during their business,” Singh told EuAsiaNews.
“We will also act to promote cultural activities between the two states. Bollywood has become a new tool to attract the attention of the Polish public and we will encourage Bollywood producers to use the well-developed infrastructure in Poland for their films,” Singh added.
