Pune: Islam is the embodiment of peace and there is no justification of murder of an innocent, said Maulana Nizamuddin Fakhrudddin, president of the Pune unit of Maharashtra Rabita Diniya which will organize an antiterrorism conference on 28th May.

Maulana Fakhrudddin said more than two thousand Muslim scholars and intellectuals are coming on one platform to condemn the Jaipur serial bomb blasts in a daylong anti-terrorism conference to be held in Pune. He regretted that the popular media associates Islam with terrorism. Maulana Abdullah Mughaisi, president of All India Milli Council will chair the conference.

This programme is a part of the series of anti-terrorism conferences which have been organized and a number of them are yet to be held in different parts of India. Darul Uloom Deoband took the lead and organized an anti-terrorism conference on 25th February 2008 which was attended by the representatives of all Muslim schools of thought and was widely covered by media. Another anti-terrorism conference is to be held in Patna by Bihar Rabita Madaris Islamia on 1st of June.

The unequivocal condemnation of terrorism from Muslim religious scholars reflect an implicit realization on their part about the need to condemn terrorism in the popular media, so that they could counter the baseless association of terrorism with Islam.
