Yediyurappa may take oath as Karnataka chief minister Wednesday

By IANS,

Bangalore : The Bharatiya Janata Party ministry led by B.S. Yediyurappa is likely to be sworn in Wednesday, party sources said Sunday.

The election process has to be completed by Wednesday May 28 according to the schedule drawn up by the election commission.

Yediyurappa will be formally elected leader of the BJP legislature party Monday. He and other state leaders will leave for Delhi for talks with party central leaders after staking claim to form the government.

All top BJP leaders like L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi who had campaigned vigorously and Arun Jaitely, in charge of party affairs in Karnataka and many others are likely to witness the swearing in ceremony.

In November last year when Yediyurappa was sworn in as chief minister all these leaders as well as chief ministers of other BJP-ruled states were present.

On Sunday evening state leaders met at Yediyurappa’s residence to discuss ministry formation and steps to be taken for stability of the government as it will have only a slender majority of four or five seats in the 225-member (including one nominated member) house.

BJP has won 110 seats, Congress 80, JD-S 28 and the remaining six have been taken by independent candidates.
