Kochi (Kerala) : Bahrain’s only low-price carrier, Bahrain Air, launched its Kerala operations with its inaugural flight arriving here late Monday evening.
Bahrain Air’s managing director Ibrahim Al Hamer Tuesday said the company is starting with three flights a week, and would raise the frequency to daily flights from October.
“The non-stop service between Kochi and Bahrain marks the beginning of an expansion plan that will link the Indian sub-continent and the Middle East through our hub in Bahrain,” said Hamer.
Kochi is the carrier’s first destination in the Indian sub-continent.
Bahrain Air now serves eight destinations across the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian sub-continent.
The flight Monday will depart the Bahrain International Airport at 10:40 a.m. and arrive here at 5:30 p.m. local time on the same day.
The other two flights will operate Tuesday and Friday, departing Bahrain at 7 p.m. and arriving at 02:30 a.m. in Kochi Wednesday and Saturday .
