Boys beat girls in Uttar Pradesh pre-medical test

Lucknow : Boys outclassed girls to find merit positions in Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT)-2008, results of which were declared here Wednesday by Lucknow University.

Lucknow University Vice-Chancellor A.S. Barar told reporters: “Only 25 girls have found place in the top 100 positions of the merit list prepared by our varsity.” The top two positions have been bagged by boys, he added.

Tauhid Ahmad, a student from Mau district, topped the examination, securing 185 marks out of 200.

About 74,000 students appeared in the CPMT conducted for admissions to various medical colleges of the state.

Barar said that the varsity had taken every measure to maintain the sanctity of the CPMT. “For the first time, we have changed the series of the alternative answers of the questions we asked in the four sets of different question papers,” he added.

The varsity officials said that right from the beginning the CPMT preparations were kept secret and the test was conducted on the lines of the examinations held by the Indian Institutes of Technology.
