Mewat (Haryana): The Qureshi community is benefiting from OBC reservation in 18 states but Haryana government has deprived them of this benefit by keeping them under general category, said state president of All India Jamiatul Quresh Haji Yaqub.

Because of political maneuvering in Haryana, no leader of any political party ever thought to give reservation to the Quresh community, he said in a function of the elders of the community organized in Patangon town. The state president further complained that Haryana government has done injustice against them by keeping their community under general category.

Addressing the gathering, he elaborated on the significant role played by his community in the economic development of the country. He said the country earns Rs 14,00,000 crore every year through trading in animals. India exports leather, meat, horns and bones to other countries on a large scale. Besides, the youths of the community have also earned the community pride by competing Civil Services examination and becoming IAS and IPS officers. Irfan Qureshi is among the successful Muslim candidates in Civil Services examination 2007.
