Sydney : Pakistani batsman Younis Khan may join the Redbacks team next season after being offered a contact by South Australia (SA).
According to the contract, the 58-Test veteran will play for SA in the Australian domestic season until Christmas, and would return in case the Redbacks feature in the finals in March.
Redbacks duties would not impinge on his Pakistan commitments, SA coach Mark Sorell said Wednesday.
“Younis is currently one of the world’s best batsmen. Recruiting him is an important step in our recruiting strategy and an opportunity that presents itself as too good to miss,” Sorell was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph.
Khan, 30, has scored 15 centuries and averages more than 49 in Test cricket.
