Ahmedabad, May 31 (IANS) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Saturday allayed fears of a cyclone hitting the coast of Gujarat anytime soon.
“No cyclone this time around on Gujarat coast,” said IMD director M.S. Tomar.
The intense cyclonic winds reportedly over north Arabian Sea had fuelled speculation that it could bring Gujarat in its line of sight.
He said the monsoon had arrived in Kerala and could take anywhere between 15 to 20 days to reach Gujarat. “We hope it would be a normal monsoon. However there is a fear that monsoon could be heavy,” Tomar said.
