Srinagar, May 31 (NAK): Senior most IAS officer of JK Cadre and Financial Commissioner Home SS Kapur will be the new chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir replacing BR Kundal, who retired prematurely to join politics.
Well informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that Sham Singh Kapur, an IAS officer of 1974 batch (Kashmir batch), is all set to take over as chief secretary by Monday.
His appointment would be announced well before the induction ceremony of the outgoing CS BR Kundal on Monday, sources added.
Kapur, presently working as financial commissioner home, was serving on deputation with Government of India before he was called back in the state.
Born on January 15, 1951in Himachal Pradesh has done BE (Civil Engg), PG Diploma in Population Development and MBA from his home state before being selected in IAS.
He has remained on important assignments including joint secretary minister of commerce and industry GOI, principal secretary industries and commerce and financial commissioner Planning and Development Department before taking over as FC home in February 26, 2008. (NAK)
