Chhattisgarh celebrates birthday

Raipur : Chhattisgarh Saturday observed its eighth anniversary with a host of companies like Tata Steel, power major NTPC and SAIL participating in events to mark the celebrations.

Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh Nov 1, 2000.

A seven-day long function ‘Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava’ organised at the Science College Ground here saw participation of Tata Steel, Essar Steel, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and a dozen state-based steel companies.

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and about 20 private power companies have also set up stalls to celebrate the foundation of the state. Chhattisgarh has received Rs.190 billion investment in power sector alone since its formation.

All the offices and government buildings were illuminated in all districts.
