Six killed in bomb attacks in Baghdad

By Xinhua,

Baghdad : Six people were killed and 20 injured when two bombs exploded on the roadside outside the police headquarters in the Iraqi capital Monday, an interior ministry source said.

“The incident occurred in the morning when the bombs exploded in quick succession in Tahariyat square in central Baghdad,” the source said.

Ten policemen were among the wounded, it said.

Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area and ambulances evacuated the wounded to nearby hospitals, the source added.

The government claims that violence has dropped to a four-year low in Iraq, but sporadic roadside bomb explosions, car bombings and suicide attacks continue.
