Bhubaneswar : Orissa plans to raise a Special Task Force on the same lines as Maharashtra to check the rise of organised crime in the state.
“The state government is planning to raise a Special Task Force, with around 200 to 250 policemen. It will check inter-state crime, drug offences and money laundering cases, among others,” a senior state police officer told IANS Friday.
He said the special force would be formed on the lines of anti-terrorism squad of Maharashtra, which has been formed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
“Besides, Orissa is also planning to go for an anti-organised crime legislation on the lines of MCOCA,” the officer added.
