Intervein Laboratories gets accreditation from US medical society

By IANS,

Ahmedabad : City-based Intervein Laboratories has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), a medical society serving more than 17,000 physician members and laboratories around the world.

The Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the CAP has awarded accreditation based on the results of an on-site inspection in September, Intervein chief executive Devina Bhardwaj said Thursday.

“The accreditation is like a gold standard for any pathological laboratory. It means the lab is following all rules that an ideal lab should follow,” he said.

During the CAP inspection process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record as well as overall management of the laboratory, she said.

“Apart from laboratory services, we also provide clinical trial services like data management, project management, site training and site support, logistics and archiving of samples and data”, Bhardwaj added.

Intervein plans to extend its services into molecular diagnostics and imaging facilities soon, making it a core lab for clinical trials, she said.
