New Delhi : A day after he resigned as Lok Sabha MP as well as from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that party tickets were being sold ahead of the Rajasthan polls, Vishwendra Singh Friday joined the Congress, with the approval of party chief Sonia Gandhi.
“The decision has been taken after the approval of the party president,” said Tom Vadakkan, Congress party media secretary.
Singh, MP from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had resigned from the BJP and as MP on Thursday alleging that big money had changed hands in the distribution of party tickets for the Dec 4 Rajasthan assembly elections.
In a press release Thursday, Singh had asserted: “The party tickets were virtually sold for huge money, at the cost of sincere party workers. The party’s central leadership was aware of all this, but it remained a mute spectator.”
