Kuwaiti authorities aid Iraqi pilgrims travelling by land to Saudi Arabia

Kuwait : Kuwaiti authorities are ready to provide Iraqi pilgrims with all possible facilities during their land trip to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia through the country, a security official said.

Interior Undersecretary Lt-Gen Ahmad Al-Rujaib made the remarks during an inspection tour Monday of the border Al-Abdali checkpoint, on behalf of Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Khalid Al-Sabah.

Lt-Gen Al-Rujaib was present to oversee accommodations for the first batch of incoming Iraqi pilgrims, en route to the hajj sites in Saudi Arabia. He also met with the Iraqi presidential advisor and representative of the prime minister, Dr Walid Abdel Ghaffar, who was also present at the border region at the time.

Dr Abdel Ghaffar conveyed greetings of the Iraqi prime minister to the Kuwaiti leaders and people, and praised the warm hospitality accorded to him and the pilgrims.

The ministry official thoroughly examined installations and procedures along the border line, ahead of prospected crossing of new groups of Iraqi pilgrims travelling by land to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
