According to the daily, the minister recently returned to the capital Kathmandu after visiting eastern Terai districts where he held dialogues with the representatives of 15 armed groups.

Speaking at a press meeting held here on Tuesday, Sharma said he held informal talks with the representatives of 15 armed outfits to facilitate their formal talks with the government.

“I asked them their viewpoints on the statute-drafting and the ongoing peace process. I found them positive on both issues. I hope we will be able to hold a dialogue and bring an end to armed conflict for ever,” said Sharma, who is also the coordinator of the government team for talks with the armed outfits.

Sharma told the media that the armed groups were positive on the declaration of the nation as a federal democratic republic.

“We will inform the government — about the progress made by the talks team, demands of the armed groups and our future strategies — in tomorrow’s (Wednesday) cabinet meeting,” he added.
