What happened to the Central package of Rs. 87,000 cr : Omar Abdullah

Srinagar : Accusing the Congress and PDP of being indulged in looting the money meant for the development of the state, National Conference President, Omar Abdullah has asked coalition partners in the previous government to explain where the Rs. 87,000 crore packages given by the Government of India have been spent.

He was addressing series of public rallies at Dub, Dudarham, Sehpora etc in the Ganderbal constituency from where he was contesting the polls.

Omar said that both the parties looted the grants received from the government of India as a special package to revive the economy of the state and also to provide basic amenities to the citizens of the J&K. “Leaders of Congress and PDP should tell the people where the amount has been spent in the past six years. 87,000 crores of rupees is not a small amount” said the NC president while urging the people to look at the performance card of the previous government.

He said the previous government failed to provide succor to the common masses and further vowed to lower the cost of LPG Cylinder by Rs. 50 and rationalization of power tariff to ease their burden as the cost of essential Commodities are sky high.

The NC president further promised employment opportunity to the needy by filling the 40,000 vacancies lying vacant in the government departments and better education, road connectivity and healthcare facilities to the people living in all the districts.
