New Delhi : A six-year-old girl was crushed to death under the wheels of her school bus when she was de-boarding it near her east Delhi home, the police said Tuesday.
According to the police, Harsha Malik, Class 1 student of Kulachi Hansraj School, was Monday afternoon getting down from the school bus near her home in Ashok Vihar when she slipped and came under the front wheel.
Her family alleged that Harsha slipped because the driver of the bus suddenly released the brakes.
She was critically injured but died on her way to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.
School principal Pammi Dutta refused to take responsibility for the accident.
“We expect parents to take care of their kids while boarding and deboarding the school bus. We have never had any complaint against our drivers,” said Dutta.
The victim was the sole child in her family. Her father runs a cyber café in a nearby locality.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north District) Sagarpreet Hooda said there has been information about the accident but no case has been registered yet.
