Terrorists attacked Mumbai as they despise democracy: EU official

By IANS,

Brussels : Terrorists seem to have attacked the world’s largest democracy precisely because they despise the values that the Indian people love, Neena Gill, an EU official, said while condemning the ongoing terrorist strike in Mumbai.

“The world is with the people of India at this terrible time. My deepest condolences go out to the victims of these horrific attacks. I hope that the hostage situation is brought to a speedy and safe conclusion,” said the president of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with India in a statement reported by EuAsiaNews.

“Terrorists seem to have attacked the world’s largest democracy precisely because they despise the values that the Indian people love. But it is precisely because of these values of freedom and democracy that the terrorists will never prevail,” she said.

“I would like to add the support of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with India. I have written a letter to the Indian prime minister expressing our strongest support for India at this terrible time,” added Gill.
