Terrorists were biggest enemy of Muslims: Azmi

By IANS,

Mumbai : The terrorists, who carried out the Mumbai attacks, were the “biggest enemy of the Muslims”, state president of the Samajwadi Party Abu Asim Azmi said here Saturday, adding “all parties in our country should stop playing politics on this grave issue”.

“People of our country who have seen injustices being done to their near and dear ones get easily motivated to join hands with the terrorists. This has led to the increase of more people getting involved in various unlawful activities be it the growth of Naxalite movement or any other thing,” Azmi told IANS.

He said: “If they (the terrorists) are doing it in the names of Muslims then I strongly condemn them as I believe it is a great loss to the community.”

“These terrorists, who are from Pakistan, even kill Muslims in their own country. They are the biggest enemy of the Muslims who come to India to destroy the communal harmony of our country,” he added.

“This is a complete failure of the state and the central government.

“All parties in our country should stop playing politics on this grave issue and sit together to find out its cause and various other factors and work collectively to eradicate it from its roots,” he said.

At least 161 people, including 13 foreigners, were killed when terrorists struck at 10 places in south Mumbai, including the Taj hotel, the nearby Oberoi-Trident hotel and the Jewish centre. Everywhere they opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades, killing people at will and injuring 370, including 22 foreigners.
