Mumbai : Indian equities markets opened strong Monday and two hours into trading was in the green with a key index up more than 118 points.
Two hours into trading the 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was ruling at 9,210.89, up 118.17 points or 1.30 percent from its close Friday last week at 9,092.72 points.
The broader-based 50-share S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), was also showing the same trend and was ruling at 2798.65, up 43.55 points or 1.58 percent from its previous close Friday last week at 2755.10 points.
The BSE midcap was ruling at 2,907.46, up 21.70 points or 0.75 percent from its previous close Friday last week at 2,885.76 points.
The BSE smallcap too was in the green and was ruling at 3,340.34, up 35.73 points or 1.08 percent from its previous close Friday last week at 3,304.61 points.
Global cues were mixed. The key index of the New York Stock Exchange closed flat Friday and the Nasdaq index closed Friday with a gain of 0.23 percent.
The Nikkei, key index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange was in the red with a loss of 1.52 percent but the Hang Seng, key index of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange was up 2.14 percent.
