Lucknow : Two people were arrested from a village in Uttar Pradesh Saturday and fake currency notes worth Rs.403,000 were recovered from them, police said.
The duo were arrested from Mohammadi village in Lakhimpur Kheri district, some 130 km from Lucknow.
“The fake notes are in the denominations of Rs.1,000 and Rs.500,” district police chief Ram Bharose told IANS on the telephone.
“Kaushal and Tarachand have confessed that they are involved in a fake currency racket that has its roots in Nepal,” he added.
