Blueline bus crushes woman in Delhi’s BRT corridor

New Delhi : A speeding Blueline bus crushed a 42-year-old woman to death when she was crossing the road at the controversial Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in south Delhi, the police said Wednesday.

Poonam Sharma came under the wheels of a privately operated Blueline bus plying on route number 534 between Anand Vihar and Mehrauli near the Chirag Delhi flyover late Tuesday, police said.

Sharma, a resident of Madangir area, was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where she was declared brought dead. She was the 11th person dying in the BRT corridor.

Police said she had separated from her husband eight years ago and was living with two daughters and a son, who works at Pizza Hut, an eating joint.

“We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving and search is on to nab the driver,” said a police official.
