Damascus : An official source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry on Thursday announced that the Syrian authorities have arrested two U.S. citizens for entering the country illegally through the northern border with Lebanon with the help of a smuggler.
The source said the Syrian authorities are investigating with the U.S. citizens Taylor Luck and Holli Chmela to learn how the couple entered the country without a valid entry visa.
The source pointed out that the Charge de’Affaires of the U.S. embassy in Damascus was summoned to be briefed on the subject, adding that Syria would hand over the couple to the U.S. embassy in Damascus immediately after the conclusion of necessary procedures.
