The bus, carrying students, lecturers and staff from Khon Kaen Agriculture and Technology University, overturned in Prachin Buri’s Nadee district 135 km east of Bangkok due to what police said had been a brake malfunction.

The driver could not slow down the bus running down the hill on a curve and was forced to slam the vehicle into a sand dune designed for emergency stops.
