This incident is serious in nature considering the fact that on the midnight of October 10 some people tried to create communal disturbances with an aim to start a communal riot.

Some antisocial elements started stone pelting in the minority dominated area of Maniar and its neighbourhood in Jalgaon. But because of sensible response from the minority community a riot was averted. The members of the community contacted the police and informed it about the situation. The police immediately swung into action and a communal riot was averted.

Describing the latest situation there, Sarfaraz Arzu, Editor of the Mumbai based Urdu daily Hindustan, told TwoCircles.net: “Tense but under control.” There hasn’t been any violence as yet, the administration is alert, he said.

He informed that since last few days Jalgaon has been communally charged because of the riot in the nearby Dhule which is hardly 60 kilometers away from Jalgaon.

What makes the matter serious and vulnerable is that communal clashes have occurred in Jalgaon itself this year, he said.

Both the communities are afraid that the situation might go out of hand; both Hindus and Muslims are afraid and very apprehensive of the unexpected. Hindus are cautious because they think that the Muslims may retaliate and avenge the Dhule riot and Muslims being in minority are very apprehensive of future and suffer from fear psychosis.

Arzu said rumors are making round making the matter really vulnerable.

He also referred to the destructive role by the people who want to disturb the communal harmony because peace is not in their political interests. In order to develop and grow they need to sow the seeds of hatred among different religious communities.

Communal riot is an easy and quick source of tensions and results in polarization of votes.

Maharashtra Nava Nirman Sena represents precisely that outlook which doesn’t want the communal harmony for its own vested interests, he concluded.
