“The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 22 Afghan nationals who were trying to enter Pakistan without possessing legal documents here at Chaman border,” the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) quoted officials as saying.

Chaman district in southwestern Pakistan’s Balochistan province borders Afghanistan.

“These intruders were arrested while crossing the border at Friendship Gate. A case was registered against them,” the APP said.

Pakistan has closed the Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Chaman for fear of inflow of Taliban insurgents as the U.S.-led forces are conducting strikes in the tribal regions along the Afghan border.

Pakistan also demanded the Afghan refugees in troubled northwestern Bajaur tribal agency leave the area amid the fierce fight against Taliban militants.
