Pakistan, China to sign civil nuclear pact

Islamabad : Pakistan and China, are likely due to sign a civil nuclear pact during the first official visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Beijing, beginning from Tuesday.
The two countries would set several agreements in technology, agriculture, minerals and free trade agreement (FTA), Pakistani ambassador to China, Masod Khan said.

Khan pointed out, that the President would also sign a new protocol of free trade in which permission for more trade will be granted. He said that both countries have always supported the peaceful use of civil nuclear energy, where an agreement in this regard is expected.

On his part, President Zardari Tuesday traveled to China on a four-day visit to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. The visit will also enhance mutual cooperation in the areas of common interest, said an official press statement.

Before leaving for China, the President told official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, that he was looking forward to a long-term economic cooperation with China, and he will shed some light on trade and economic ties.
