Indian equities open higher after two days of losses

Mumbai : Indian equities opened on a positive note Friday after two days of losses as investors looked at the positive side of developments on the home turf such as the infusion of more funds to address credit crunch and a moderation in the price rise.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened the day at 10,763.34 points, as against the previous close at 10,581.49 points, and was ruling at 10,754.71 points, some 10 minutes into trading.

At this level, the index was up 173.22 points, or 1.64 percent, over the previous close.

The S&P CNX Nifty, a basket of 50 shares, was also ruling higher at 3,324.40 points with a gain of 1.69 percent.
