Mohali : A case has been filed against officials of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for insulting the national flag by flying it upside down during the India-Australia cricket Test here Friday.
“This is a serious offence and we took this case seriously. The police have booked the case under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 against the PCA officials and will take appropriate action,” Jatinder Singh Aulakh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali told IANS.
Police will investigate the case thoroughly and we will not spare the real culprit behind this serious mistake, Aulakh said.
In a major goof up, the Indian tricolour was unfurled upside down on top of the north pavilion block of PCA stadium Friday morning. The green strip of the national flag was on top while saffron was at the bottom.
After the mistake was noticed, PCA officials asked Daljit Singh, curator of the PCA to bring down the flag. It was hoisted again after 30 minutes.
