Doha : The 18th meeting of municipality officials of the GCC states kicks off here on Sunday to discuss coordination and integration between the organs of municipality bodies in order to achieve integration between the municipalities of the GCC Council.
Kuwait will be represented at the two-day meeting by Director General of the Municipality Ahmed al-Subeih and a number of municipality officials.
Director of Doha Municipality Al-Mohannadi Ibrahim told reporters that the meeting will discuss several key areas that are important for the functioning of the GCC municipal action, including a proposal submitted by Saudi Arabia to speed up performance and remove obstacles which has been circulated to all GCC countries.
Responses by the GCC states will be reviewed and then agree on the appropriate proposal.
He added that the meeting will discuss the views of the GCC states on the Saudi-Omani paper on natural disasters, in addition to the proposal of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the prize of the Gulf Cooperation Council on municipal work.
The gathering will also look into the issue of restoration of historical buildings that was carried out by the State of Qatar before the scheduled meeting today.
It will also discuss the establishment of the Executive Office of Municipal Affairs which underwent lengthy discussions.
