NGO Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD), in its petition, has raised doubts about the authenticity of the police version of the Sep 19 shootout in which one of its top officers, Inspector M.C. Sharma, was also killed.

A bench headed by Justice Mukul Mudgal posted it for hearing Nov 7.

ANHAD said there were many discrepancies in the police version of the shootout that needed to be clarified and an independent judicial inquiry was the need of the hour.

The petitioner also demanded separate guidelines for the police and media on not divulging and publishing details about such sensitive issues.
