KNP to oppose autonomy, division of J&K

By News Agency of Kashmir,

Jammu : Kashmir National Party (KNP) held meeting of its Executive Council under chairmanship of Abbas Butt.

The house was briefed about current situation of the Kashmir dispute. Also the Chair and Nawaz Majid gave details of their visit to AJK and performance of KNP zone there.

Apart from that the Chair and Dr Shabir Choudhry briefed the audience about their visit to Geneva where they took part in the Session of the UN Human Rights Council. KNP leaders played a leading role in the Intra Kashmir Dialogue organized by Interfaith International in the UN building and advanced the cause of Kashmiri peoples inherent and inalienable right of self determination.

KNP Executive Council appreciated the hard work done by different leaders of the KNP to advance the cause of the Party; and declared that we will continue our struggle for united and independent Jammu and Kashmir and will fiercely oppose division of the State in any form or shape.

KNP leaders said that we cannot and will not accept ‘autonomy’ or ‘self rule’ no matter where it is coming from and how beautifully it is disguised or how attractive is its wrapping. KNP leaders said if we accept or tacitly agree to the autonomy resolution of National Conference then there will be pressure to accept similar resolution passed by the Muslim Conference. They said accepting autonomy means accepting that the accession of the State with India is final; whereas that accession was provisional and had to be ratified by the people of the State in completely fair and impartial plebiscite.

KNP leaders said no single party or alliance has right to decide future of the State. They said Kashmir dispute is not a religious in nature and those who promote it as a jihad or struggle of the Muslims are seriously damaging the Kashmir cause. They said State is multi national, multi lingual and multi ethnic, and aspirations of all ethnic groups had to be taken in to consideration when deciding the future of the State.

Elections are held in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir for administrative purposes and not to decide future of the State; and those parties who oppose these or boycott them are not doing any service to the Kashmiri people or the Kashmir cause. If elections are held and appreciated in AJK then why they have to be opposed on the other side of the divide. (NAK)
