Mohali : Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, who scored a century in the second Test match against Australia at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium here Monday, said that India dominated the Test match as it remained aggressive.
“We have been aggressive in this Test. Right from the first session, we have put Australia on the backfoot. The way Virender Sehwag batted in both innings made it amply clear,” Gambhir said here after India had Australia reeling at 141 for five on the fourth day of the Test, a good 375 runs away from victory.
Gambhir said that not only the Indian batsmen but the bowlers also did a good job to put India in a commanding position.
About his century, his second and the first in India, Gambhir said any century against Australia, the best test team in the world, “was very special”.
“Our gameplan in the second innings was to get a 500-plus target. We have two quality spinners and getting the target is not going to be easy,” Gambhir said.
About opening partner Virender Sehwag missing his century by just 10 runs, Gambhir said at that stage the team was more important.
“As openers, we have a good chemistry. We share a lot of common things on and off the field,” he pointed out.
