Bureaucrat arrested on graft charge

New Delhi : An under-secretary working with the ministry of overseas Indian affairs and his assistant have been arrested for allegedly demanding Rs.200,000 in bribe, the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) said here Tuesday.

Naveen Jambulkar, protector of emigrants, and his assistant, identified only as Bose, were arrested from their office in Mumbai earlier this week, the CBI said in a press statement.

The CBI said Jambulkar had demanded bribe from a complainant for settlement of an enquiry against him.

Two more people were arrested in this regard, it said.
