New Delhi: Taking note of the Shaheen Bagh foiled kidnapping case, the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission has sought report from Noida Police within a week. A team of Noida Police had unsuccessfully tried to pick Aamir of Seelampur in New Delhi on October 16.
Talking to TwoCircles.net from Lucknow, secretary of the Minority Commission Muhammad Akram said the commission wrote a letter on October 20 to SSP Noida asking him to furnish details about the incident which, eyewitnesses said, could have turned out to be an encounter had locals not gathered courage and prevented the police team in civil dress from kidnapping the youth.
The commission has expressed concern over the way the police tried to pick the youth from Shaheen Bagh area under Jamia Nagar Police Station.
Around 8 pm on October 16, a black Verna car with no registration number and the occupants in civilian dress entered the Shaheen Bagh area without informing the local police and tried to push the youth Aamir in the car. As he began crying locals gathered and sensing some foul they gathered courage and prevented the car occupants from picking the youth. While others in the car fled the scene, the public was able to catch hold of a person who later turned out to be Sub-Inspector Ajay Pal of Noida Police.
The policeman and the car were handed over to Jamia Nagar police. The Noida Police later said the man Aamir is wanted in several cases in Noida and Ghaziabad. But the Delhi Police expressed concern over the manner of the police raid. They wrote a letter to their Noida counterparts.
Taking action on the issue, the higher authorities of Noida Police transferred Station House Officer of Sector-58 Police Station (Noida) Ramsen Singh to the Police Lines and Sub-Inspector Ajay Pal and Constables Kulwinder singh and Vijayveer to the Economics Offence Wing of Varanasi.
