Goa minister’s kin claims innocence in German girl’s rape

By IANS,

Panaji : Warren Alemao, the 22-year-old nephew of Goa Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao, has denied allegations that he had raped a minor German girl, whose mother had created a storm last week accusing another cabinet minister Atanasio Monserrate’s son of raping her daughter.

Talking to the media in Panaji Thursday evening, with Churchill Alemao in tow, Warren claimed he was innocent and that he was being dragged into the controversy merely because he was related to a political figure. “I don’t even know that girl. I challenge them (the complainants) to prove their point. I am willing to depose before the police rightaway,” Warren Alemao clarified.

Earlier, addressing a press conference at a city hotel, Aires Rodrigues, counsel for the German mother, Fadela Fuchs, had claimed that Warren had sexually abused the minor girl.

“I have submitted the information about Warren Alemao along with some of his compromising photographs with the victim, which we have sourced from facebook.com to the police,” Rodrigues claimed.

Speaking to IANS on Thursday night, Aires claimed that he would be submitting a formal complaint with the Superintendent of Police Bosco George Friday morning.

Churchill has been one of the most vocal supporters of Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate, whose son Rohit is also accused of raping the 14-year-old German girl.

Churchill and Aires have been engaged in a heated exchange ever since.

At a press conference Wednesday, Alemao had claimed that the police were victimizing Rohit and had alleged that the police needed to probe Rodrigues association with the complainant.

Rohit has been missing since the registration of the complaint and the police have issued a Look Out Notice to ensure that he does not leave the country.
