Russia, Tunisia urge need to reaching political settlement in Mideast

Moscow : Russia and Tunisia called on importance Wednesday for reaching a political settlement in the Middle East.

Russian and Tunisian foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Abdulwahhab Abdullah respectively, said it was important to push forward the peace process on all tracks — Palestinian, Syria and Lebanese — and to activate the role of the quartet as well as re-establishing the Palestinian national unity.

Both men, according to a statement by the Russian foreign ministry, said that bringing about stability to Iraq with the participation of all political parties coupled with assistance of the neighboring countries.

Lavrov and Abdullah said, meanwhile, that Iran should honor international commitments vis-a-vis its nuclear program.
