Costellon (Spain) : A flawless five-under 66 saw Jeev Milkha Singh move to tied 16th midway through the second round of the Castello Masters here Friday.
Jeev, who started with a triple bogey Thursday but managed an even par 71, hit five birdies, three on front nine and two on back nine and he now has five-under 137.
Jeev, 52nd after first round, is now four behind clubhouse leader Alvaro Quiros. The Spaniard last week won the Portugal Masters.
Jeev, 10th on the European Money and winner of two titles this season, birdied first, fifth and eighth and then added two more birdies on 13th and 16th.
Shiv Kapur was fighting to stay on course for the weekend, as he pulled back from
one-over after 10 holes to one-under after 12 with birdies on second and third. He was one-under through 12 holes after a first round of one-over 72. The cut is likely to come at even par.
Jyoti Randhawa was sure to miss the cut after carding a second straight 73 and he ended at four-over 146.
Starting at the tenth, Quiros reached the turn one under par but he made four birdies on the front nine – including one at the 553 yard par five eighth – to open up a two shot lead over Thomas Levet, Richard Finch and Soren Kjeldsen. All three are in the early stages of their rounds on the course.
Finch, was six-under through 14 holes and at 12-under, he led the field but still had four holes to play. One shot behind was Kjeldsen, the overnight leader. Kjeldsen followed his seven-under on first day with a four-under through 13 holes.
