Manuel Uribe, 43, who once weighed 560 kg and has not left his bed for six years, tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Claudia Solis, 38, at a civil ceremony Sunday.

The ceremony took place in the Club des Lions, a luxurious spot in the city, two years after Uribe went on a diet losing a staggering 250 kg with the help of his wife, a hairdresser, and widow of a friend.

The groom was dressed in a white satin shirt and a sheet covered his legs as he was lying on his special four-poster bed during the ceremony. The wedding reception, which was televised by the Discovery channel, had a low-fat wedding banquet.

Uribe has been officially recognized the world’s fattest man by the Guinness Book of World Records.

He was the subject of a documentary entitled ‘The World’s Heaviest Man’ and said he had set himself the goal of getting his weight down to 120 kg.

Uribe met Solis when he visited a friend, who also weighed 250 kg, as he lay dying four years ago.
