Ranchi : As many as 13 Maoists, including a top rebel leader, have been arrested in the state in the last two days, the Jharkhand police said Monday.
“Thirteen Maoist rebels have been arrested from different parts of the state in the last two days. We have seized a huge cache of arms from them,” Director General of Police (DGP) V.D. Ram told reporters here.
“The arrested Maoist rebels include Lorense Mundri alias Carlos, zonal commander of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), who faces a total of 30 cases of murder and other crimes,” he said.
Five Maoist rebels were arrested from Khuti district and two each were nabbed from Ranchi, Palamau and Garwah.
The arms seized include two carbines, three pistols, four revolvers, four mobile sets, Rs.92,000 in cash, detonators, more than 800 cartridges and Maoist literature among other things.
Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
