Toronto : At a time when airlines are going out of business because of high operating costs, Canada’s low-cost airline WestJet will offer free flights to travelers with the surname of Candy, Orange, Web or Webb, and Sweet on Halloween.
Celebrated Oct 31 each year, Halloween is thought to be the night of ghosts, witches and fairies as per old traditions in the Western world.
Canada’s private carrier announced Tuesday that people with these surnames can apply for free flights before midnight Oct 30, 2008, to travel anywhere in Canada on Halloween.
However, they will have to pay regular fare for a return flight any other day than Oct 31.
The country’s second biggest airline also offered five percent rebate on all fares within Canada – for travel between Oct 31 and Dec 18 – on all bookings done before midnight Oct 30
“Our guests love to have fun and so do we,” said Bob Cummings, the airlines executive vice president for guest experience and marketing.
“We also like to say thank you to our guests, and offers like this one are a way to do just that. We hope that people will take advantage of this fun offer to say boo! to family and friends,” he said.
Based in Calgary, WestJet has a fleet of 76 aircraft and operates to 51 destinations in Canada, the US and the Caribbean.
