Arab League and Arab Security Council condemn US attack on Syria

Cairo : The Arab League general secretariat has condemned the US attack on Boukamal in north-eastern Syria that claimed the lives of innocent civilians.

In a statement issued Monday, the Arab League underlined that such a violation will not help stability in the region and opens the door for new tension in the region and destroy the credibility of the move toward peace and stability in Iraq and its neighbours.

The statement stressed solidarity with Syria in her right to defend her territories and protect her people.

For its part, the Security Council and Arab Peace at the Arab League which is headed by Saudi Arabia discussed the US aggression and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa issued a strongly worded statement condemning the dangerous US act against Syrian civilians.

The meeting of the council was attended BY representatives of Syria, Algeria, Djibouti, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, Oman and Somalia.

The Arab Writers Union condemned the US aggression on Boukamal, stressing that the presence of the US troops in Iraq constitutes a destabilizing factor threatening world peace.

The union said in a statement that the US Administration has turned the international political scene into an arena of chaos and uneasiness.

For its part, the Palestinian Hamas movement strongly denounced the US aggression and stressed solidarity with Syria.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh denounced strongly the US blatant attack on Boukamal.
