New Delhi : As the nation celebrated Diwali, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday called on President Pratibha Patil and greeted her on the occasion.
During their 30-minute meet, they also discussed recent national and international developments, including Manmohan Singh’s visits to Japan for the annual summit meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries as well as to Beijing for the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.
A large number of people too visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to greet the president on the occasion of Diwali, a separate statement said.
The visitors included people from all walks of life, including women, the elderly, schoolchildren, tiny tots and senior citizens.
