Pakistani leaders condemn Assam blasts

Islamabad : Pakistan’s president and prime minister strongly condemned the series of bomb blasts that killed at least 56 people and injured more than 300 in India’s northeastern state of Assam Thursday.

“Terrorism and extremism need to be eradicated in all its forms and manifestations,” President Asif Ali Zardari said, according to a statement issued from his office.

In a separate message to the Indian leadership from Turkey where he is attending a meeting of the World Economic Forum, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed grief over the killing of innocent people in the blasts.
