Chandigarh : To minimise the problems faced by senior citizens while driving, the Chandigarh traffic police will issue special cards that will entitle them to receive help in parking and getting out of traffic jams.
“The number of vehicles on city roads is increasing at a rapid pace and at the same pace problems while driving are increasing. In a move to curtail the problems faced by people, especially by senior citizens residing here, we will launch special cards for them in the coming days,” superintendent of police (traffic and security) H.S. Doon told IANS.
The cops will help senior citizens find parking space, drive them out of traffic jams and assist them in any emergency. The telephone number of the police control room will be written on the card.
Doon added: “We are talking to various other authorities, including the municipal corporation, so that their officials will also contribute to make this drive successful.”
With the number of vehicles plying on the roads increasing day by day, cases of road rage and accidents are also on the rise here.
