Quetta : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday hoped that the coalition partners in Balochistan government would support Senator Asif Ali Zardari in Presidential election. Talking to media soon after having meetings with various delegations, the PM said Balochistan Assembly elected Nawab Raisani as Chief Minister and unanimously supported the government’s decision to impeach former president Pervez Musharraf, and now, he added, there would be “almost walk over” for Senator Zardari in Balochistan Assembly.
To a question the Prime Minister said that his Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik visited Balochistan and met various leaders, he would take up the problems of Balochistan on appropriate forum.
When asked about negotiations with militants, he said “everybody condemns militants and terrorists, but those who are loyalists and patriots they are our friends and brothers and we will work together”.
Regarding financial constraints of the province, PM Gilani said that Rs. 26 billion were allocated for Balochistan in the federal PSDP which was increased to Rs. 42 billion during the current fiscal.
He further said that the Governor State Bank of Pakistan would visit Quetta tomorrow (Monday) and discuss the issue of overdraft with the CM. Moreover, the Finance Minister would also visit Balochistan and discuss matters relating to finance with the Chief Minister.
The Prime Minister assured that he would ask his party leaders to hold All Parties Conference on Balochistan and said that his government would fulfill all the promises made with the province before and after February 18, elections.
When asked about the presence of Chief Minister Sindh in Balochistan, the PM said that he is a senior party leader and has good contacts in Balochistan.
Sister of Senator Asif Ali Zardari Farryal Talpur, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistan Syed Khursheed Shah and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
