New Delhi : Delhi High Court Monday issued notices to the central government, Rajya Sabha chairman, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati after Isam Singh challenged his disqualification as member of the upper house.
The BSP MP was disqualified by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari July 4 after the privileges committee of the house sent him a report on May 22.
Singh, elected as a BSP member, was expelled from the party on Sep 3, 2006. He, however, floated Bahujan Kranti Party even before he could be formally declared an unattached member.
Justice G.S. Sistani sought replies by Sep 12.
