Pakistani PM’s motorcade attacked, Gilani safe

Islamabad : Gunmen Wednesday attacked the motorcade of Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani at Rawalpindi near here, but a senior minister said he was not in his vehicle.

Media reports said three bullets were fired at his vehicle close to the airport.

The private TV channel Dawn News initially reported that Gilani and his staff were unhurt in the firing. Other reports said that he was returning to Islamabad from Lahore.

But Information Minister Sherry Rehman said that Gilani was not in the motorcade and that he was safe and present at the prime minister’s house.
